Will you be mine?

I made a couple batches of cookies to share with family on Valentines Day last week.

First, V'con's Chewy Chocolate Raspberry Cookies:
Everyone loved these...except me. I think I would've liked them if I weren't expecting raspberry, but I was, and I was a wee bit disappointed. I think the almond extract was too overpowering, and if I make them again, I would leave it out.

And, from the Joy of Vegan Baking, Sugar Cookies with White Icing (I actually can't remember if that's what the icing is actually called, but I used whatever the book recommended):
I colored the icing with some pink water leftover from cooking beets for Baby Teague. I thought that beets were a fitting Valentine's Day food for the little guy, and he seemed to enjoy them.

Longer post coming.....sometime. ;)

MMM, those looks so good. I still feel bad that I didn't get around to making any heart cookies and had to just cut one out of a circle cookie for Athena to take to school because I was too sick! Oh well, I can make heart cookies any time I suppose!

I made those cookies from Veganomicon too! Except mine were Chewy Chocolate-Orange Cookies, made with orange marmalade :0)

those sugar cookies are so perfectly decorated with the icing - you must teach me out to do that! :0D

Those heart cookies look beautiful and I am sure they taste delish!

I know exactly what you mean about the raspberry cookies-I always use much more jelly and no extract.

What a great idea to use the leftover beet water!! I hate using that fake red dye crap, and I SWEAR I can taste it! :( Blech! Your frosting looks so pretty, and just the perfect shade of pale pink. What great Valentine's treats!

I was sad because I couldn't taste the raspberry in those cookies either, except I didn't use the almond extract because I don't like it. They just tasted like soft chocolate cookies to me :(

I love your heart cookies! So pretty!

Hi! I just came across your site and noticed Teaque is around the same age as my daughter (she just turned 6 months) I would LOVE to know what your plan for solids is- I am trying to figure it all out. So far she doesn't really like much so we are taking it slow and I don't want to feed her the "cereals". I am not vegan but I am trying to greatly reduce the amount of animal products I eat... and have been experimenting with vegan baking and cooking! Anyways I would love to talk to you about infant/child nutrition if you are interested- my site is green-and-lean.com feel free to leave a comment or e mail me (top right hand corner)!

By the way, you have a beautiful family!
